TBILISI, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Lawrence Shankland struck late to salvage a 2-2 away draw for already-qualified Scotland against Georgia and maintain their slim chance of clinching first place in their Euro 2024 qualifying Group A on Thursday. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring in the 15th minute when he slid in to poke Otar Kakabadze's ball across the line, but Scott McTominay's seventh goal in seven qualifiers levelled the game in the 49th minute. Georgia regained the lead eight minutes later when Kvaratskhelia scored his second, only for substitute Shankland to head home two minutes into stoppage time, six minutes after coming on as a late substitute. Scotland are in second place, two points behind group leaders Spain before their final qualifier at home against Norway on Sunday, while Georgia, already guaranteed a playoff spot, face Spain away in their final game. Oct 26 (Reuters) - This weekend's Serie A fixtures pit the last two Scudetto winners against each other, as defending champions Napoli host AC Milan on Sunday. Inter Milan were first to break Juve's stronghold in 2021, followed by their rivals Milan, before Napoli finally won their third Scudetto last season, and first without Diego Maradona. Now, those three sides, along with Juventus, are battling it out for this season's league title, and the Diego Armando Maradona stadium will see Napoli attempt to stay in the title race against Milan. Verona who won their opening two games, have picked up just two points in the seven games since then. Lazio have already lost four league games this season, but have now won their last two, taking them to 10th in the standings, and on Monday they host high-flying Fiorentina.

The result kept Napoli in second place on six points, three behind Real Madrid who won 2-1 at Sporting Braga. "It wasn't our best game technically, but winning this kind of game is important," scorer Raspadori said. I believe we could have done better, but an away win like this in the Champions League is always good. Playing in the Champions League and scoring is fantastic," he said. Yes we lost but overall delivered a good game."

Real are top of Group C on six points from two games, three ahead Napoli and Braga. While there were frazzled nerves at the end, Real started the game strongly with the Vinicius and Bellingham creating all kinds of trouble for the hosts' defence. However, veteran midfielder Luka Modric climbed off the bench to liven up Real Madrid late in the game. He first put it on a plate for Bellingham, who missed a sitter from close range in the 75th minute. BOLOGNA, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Napoli's underwhelming start to the season persisted after a missed penalty by Victor Osimhen condemned the Serie A champions to a 0-0 draw at Bologna on Sunday. The Nigerian striker fired his penalty wide of the target in the 72nd minute after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's deflected cross had struck the arm of substitute Riccardo Calafiori. In the first half, Osimhen missed a chance to put Napoli ahead in the fifth minute when he struck the post. As for when he (Osimhen) went off, we talked about that, what I say to my players remains in the locker room," Garcia said. During a tense finale, Napoli's Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa blocked a Bologna shot with his arm inside the penalty box.

Diego Maradona battles dribbles against Ruud Gullit of AC Milan in the Serie A in 1988. With Maradona’s arrival came a level of success Napoli had previously never seen, culminating in a 1987 title victory; the club’s first ever Scudetto. When Napoli won its first Serie A title in 1987, the Gentleman Ultra website notes: “In the city, mock funerals were held for Juventus. The dark yearsA year after the 1990 title success, the Napoli team began to unwind with players departing, leading to a drop in performances. Napoli fans celebrate the team's Serie A title victory on the streets of Naples.
CNN —Napoli won its first Serie A title in 33 years after coming from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Udinese at the Dacia Arena, Udine, on Thursday. The 24-year-old Nigerian scored his goal in front of the traveling Napoli fans, who celebrated the equalizer deliriously. Napoli fans gathered in Naples to watch the match against Udinese. The draw was all that was needed for the visitors who left Udine with the biggest prize in Italian football. Napoli fans ran onto the pitch to celebrate when the referee blew the full-time whistle, with players being mobbed in jubilant scenes.
Kevin, another fan who declined to give his surname, said of the expected Scudetto party: "It will be chaos, mayhem. Authorities also banned car and scooter traffic from the city centre in the hope of minimising risk to public order. "I've been waiting for the Napoli Scudetto since I was small," said a teenage girl out with two friends, her cheeks painted Napoli blue. "It's a victory for the entire city, it's wonderful," she added, declining to give her name. In Udine, there were post-match scuffles as Napoli fans ran onto the stadium pitch to celebrate with players, but were met by hostile home supporters armed with belts and batons, the ANSA news agency said.
May 4 (Reuters) - Napoli clinched the Serie A title on Thursday with five games to spare as they ended a 33-year drought stretching back to when Diego Maradona led them to the Scudetto in 1990. At the start of the season it would have been difficult to envisage Napoli becoming champions ahead of heavyweights such as Juventus and the two Milan clubs not to mention AS Roma. But after an exceptional transfer window and with Luciano Spalletti at the helm, Napoli dominated the title race while their main rivals all suffered slumps during the season. CONTENDERS FALTERAs Napoli surged ahead, suffering just one loss by the end of February, the other title contenders withered away as injuries plagued their squads. But Maurizio Sarri's side could only watch as Napoli became the fourth different team to win Serie A in as many years.
A goalless first half saw defensive Juventus allowing Napoli to enjoy the lion's share of possession, awaiting chances to counter-attack. The approach did not result in many chances for either side and Juve managed only three shots on target. The game sprung to life with 20 minutes left when Napoli came close to taking the lead through striker Victor Osimhen who fired inches wide of the post. Napoli then sealed their eighth away league win in a row through Raspadori, who beat Szczesny with a volley following a beautiful lofted cross by midfielder Eljif Elmas. "We played a good game against a strong Napoli," said Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri.
Runaway league leaders Napoli crush Torino 4-0 away

March 19 (Reuters) - Serie A leaders Napoli thrashed Torino 4-0 away with a double from Victor Oshimen and goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Tanguy Ndombele on Sunday to move closer to the title. The Naples side have a 21-point lead over second-placed Inter Milan, who host Juventus later on Sunday. Kvaratskhelia doubled the lead in the 35th minute with a penalty after being fouled by Karol Linetty. Oshimen scored his second and reached a league-leading 21 goals this season six minutes into the second half with another header following Mathias Olivera's cross. Napoli next host fourth-placed AC Milan while mid-table Torino visit Sassuolo after the international break.
But none have been more famous – or loved by Napoli fans – than Diego Maradona. “I have a video of Napoli fans chanting the names of the players before the game against Liverpool. “But Kvaratskhelia is shrugging defenders off the ball.”According to Badalashvili, the reciprocated love Kvaratskhelia and the Napoli fans have for one another is what jumps out to him most. His surname is already ‘Kvaradona.’ Napoli fans gave him the nickname ‘Kvaradona.’ And when I spoke with Napoli fans, they said when they see Kvara, they see Maradona.”Kvaratskhelia attempts a shot against Rangers in the Champions League. In the cities in Georgia, you will see very many people in shirts of Kvara: either Napoli shirts or Georgian national team.
